If you do decide to make a pre-event site visit, either with or without your planner, below are tips to make it go smoothly.

What to do

1. •Pick St John or St Thomas for the wedding and events
   

2. •Pick your location as soon as possible.
   

3. •Do your homework before you go and visit no more than three venues.
   

4. •Try to make the final decision by the end of the first day.
   

    Check out various ceremony and reception spots at the time of day you’ll be using them.

    Plan to meet with as many vendors as possible – prioritize the vendors you care for most (make sure you bring your St John Wedding planner) – and you should plan to  handle the rest from afar on your wedding planners recommendations.

    Meet every person on your priorities list who will have a managing role in your events:  the wedding planner, the site coordinator, the chefs, etc.  Having a face to put with an email address or telephone voice can simplify communications.

    Use your experience as a “first-time guest” to uncover the things your guests may need to make their time more enjoyable. Scope out any potential problems (difficulty tracking down safari taxis at the guests villas, for example) and make finding solutions for them on your to-do lists.
