    Our staff has 57 collective years experience in wedding and event planning.  Our Caribbean experience spans 48 years; specifically, we’ve spent 38 years in St John.  Our Caribbean experience includes St John, St Thomas, Jost Van Dyke in the British Virgin Islands, Jamaica, and St Lucia. St Lucia is a popular 2nd week honeymoon for many of our clients.  Conde Nast Traveler, which is a discriminating and informed group of travel consumers, voted our 2nd honeymoon location, as the 1st ever Caribbean hotel to be voted as the #1 hotel in the world!   Its readers voted it Best of the Best.  Even Oprah Winfrey vacations there!

Where do we get our inspiration for our St John weddings and events?  We draw from our various birthplaces, the islands, and after all, we do live in America’s paradise-St John, which some are calling the “new Monaco”.  Certainly, St John is the 2nd home to many millionaires.

    Another source of our design inspiration is from one of our industry event planning icons,  Preston Bailey.  Preston is from another island like so many of us here in St John.  Lastly, we pull our collaborative experience from living in an amazing unspoiled, green National Park, and the most amazing blue underwater National Park, where you can walk into the water and snorkel from almost any beach.

Kathleen Hurley

Wedding and Event Coordinator, Ordained Non-denominational Minister

Kathleen Hurley has 26 years of wedding and event planning.  Kathleen has planned cooperative events between the Mayor’s office in Manhattan and the famous Windows of the World, located then at the World Trade Center.  Kathleen also participated in many of the events held at the largest trade shows, that were held in Manhattan’s various business and commerce centers, such as the Jacobs Javits Convention Center. She’s also planned cooperative events with NYC colleges.  Additionally, Kathleen planned large corporate picnics in New York state, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. In Newark, NJ, we participated and sponsored a booth, at the annual Portuguese Day Parade, which welcomes close to one million attendants. It’s a lot of fun! In the British Virgin Islands, Kathleen, was invited to be the celebrant at one of Ivan Chinnerys personal events held on Jost Van Dyke.  Jost Van Dyke is a small island in the BVI’s, which is considered one of the top places worldwide, to spend New Years Eve. Everyone that’s visited Jost has met Ivan.  Old Years Day is a fabulous experience!

Sheryl Codogan

Wedding and Event Coordinator

Sheryl has been in the hospitality business for 21 years, and 16 of those years have been spent in the US Virgin Islands, specializing in wedding and events with up to 300 guests.  Along with working with A Love City Wedding and A St John Event, Sheryl has worked for the Ritz Carlton on St Thomas, Caneel Bay resort on St John, and The Westin Resort on St John.  Sheryl was nominated for excellence in customer service by The Westin Resort, and was the recipient of the US Virgin Islands Hotel & Tourism Association’s coveted Tommy Award in 2007. Sheryl’s customer service is simply outstanding. Sheryl lives on St Thomas, coordinates wedding and events on both St John and St Thomas.  Sheryl is originally from Jamaica.

Duane Laurencin

Coordinator

Duane has worked in St John’s fine dining restaurants and the hospitality industry for over ten years. Part of his experience has been that he worked for both Asolare Restaurant and Paradiso Restaurant in St John.  Duane has set up perfect dining rooms, executed designed functions, and served food and beverage to many weddings and events, with over 100 guests, over the past 10 years.  Duane has worked as a Coordinator with A Love City Wedding and A St John Event for over 2 years.  Duane is very creative, has an eye for detail, and a pleasure to our clients. Duane is from one of the best and most respected families in St John.  Duane is originally from St John.
